Oktoberfest information

Oktoberfest or October holiday, so-called hop harvest. It is organized every year in Munich, Germany.

It began on October 17, 1810 in honor of the wedding of Prince Ludwik and Princess Teresa.

Until 1971 it took place in October and in 1972 it was moved to September due to the nice weather.

1. Oktoberfest is a symbol of friendship between nations, as evidenced by the annual turnout of about 6 million visitors from around the world.

2. Initially, it was a sports festival since 1880 when the license to sell beer was issued is a beer festival.

3. This is one of the most important holidays in Germany. It lasts up to 2 weeks and includes 3 weekends.

4. During the festival, 6 million liters of beer are drunk, 120,000 sausages are eaten, 460,000 chickens and 100 roast beef steers.

5. Theresinwiese changes into a funfair and the stands of Munich breweries are set.

6. In 2017 during the Beer Festival – Oktoberfest 7.5 million liters of beer were consumed.
