Dolly sheep – domestic sheep, is the first animal in the world cloned from somatic cells of an adult individual by means of cell nucleus transfer.

This was done by scientists from the Roslin Institute in Scotland (Ian Wilmut and Keith Campbell and their team).

Dolly the sheep was born on July 5, 1996 and lived over 6.5 years (until February 14, 2003).
