All Saints’ Day is a Roman Catholic celebration celebrated on November 1 in honor of all saints.
In Poland, this day is statutorily free from work. Taking advantage of this, people travel even several hundred kilometers to reach the graves of their loved ones.
It comes mainly from the veneration of martyrs who gave their lives to spread faith in Christ.
The beginnings of this holiday date back to the 4th century.

2. Initially, All Saints’ Day was celebrated on May 13.

4. In Rome in the eighth century, only Mary and the martyrs were honored on that day.
5. Here and there the custom of feeding souls has been preserved. They are left with bread and butter.
